The 2008 National Night Out celebration hosted by the Windmill Farms Community Watch was a tremendous success! Check back soon for photos of the fun, and of course for information as we begin to plan next year's celebration.
The Windmill Farms Community Watch would like to thank the Forney Brookshire's, Warezabouts, Cici's Pizza (Terrell location), Walmart, and the Forney Starplex for their generous donations to help make this event a success!
Also, thanks to all of the volunteers who helped put this event together, and who helped run the show the night of the event.
Lastly, a huge thank you to the Sherriff's Office, Constable's Office, County Commissioner's Office, FEC Electric, YMCA and Forney Fire Dept.!
Below is some general information about National Night Out that I posted previously, but will keep here for reference. Note it may be out of date but I'll update as the 2009 event gets closer.
Since this the first National Night Out for Windmill Farms, I thought that I would give a bit of background information for those of you that are interested in what all this event entails. It is really amazing that it is coordinated across the entire nation, and that Windmill Farms has the opportunity to participate!
This will be the 25th Annual National Night Out, coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch. Over 35 million people in more than 11,000 communities will join forces to promote:
- Police-community partnerships
- Crime, drug and violence prevention
- Safety
- Neighborhood unity
National Night Out is celebrated in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. This year, Texas will be celebrating National Night Out on October 7th. The theme this year is "Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs A Going Away Party." We have the opportunity to let criminals know that Windmill Farms (and the entire US) is united and dedicated to building a safer, more caring community.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
